filming in byron bay

The Northern Rivers area was the inspiration for the suspended... story.

Damian spent many holidays here as a child and the story became an expression of those times that he loved as a kid.

Given the generous support of Screen NSW, it was important that the film be all local - local to NSW, local to the heart of the story and local for the people and culture it depicts, albeit from a the bygone era of the 70's.

EHT lush green, big blue skies and architecture lend beautifully to Damian's vision for the film and will give an authenticity to the story that simply couldn't be found elsewhere

mt. warning

The ever powerful and energetic Mt Warning has always been in the background of both the story and Damian's experiences in the region.
The mountain shape is immediately recognisable to those who know the area and is a tribute to the millennia of history of habitation in the area.

Mt Warning will provide a backdrop for the magic in the story and serve as a reminder for all audiences of the power of human nature and it's role in our lives.

working with the byron community

The team on suspended... have a combined tally of over a hundred years of experience in the film industry, both locally and internationally.
Being given the opportunity to work around Byron, one of the great homes of artists and creatives of all kinds, it's hugely important to the production that the local community both welcome the production and can be involved on all levels.
The production will bring significant business to the area, as well promote the area and hope to have a hand in offering on set opportunities for those filmmakers based in the area.
